Today is a day I’ve been eagerly awaiting: the first day of my Best of 2010 series, in which I cover 5 of my favorite songs from the year. Today’s song comes off a record that I really fell in love with over the course of several months this summer — High Violet by Brooklyn-based The National. Now, I’m a huge fan of The National. In fact, I’d count them among my five favorite bands of all time. So when my copy of High Violet finally arrived, I did something I rarely do anymore — I set aside an entire 40 minutes, poured a nice drink, and just listened. That’s how much I was anticipating it.
